Of Rain and Scholarships

"It is the rainy season in Liberia now. Liberia has the heaviest total rainfall in the world, so life can be difficult at this time. At the Victoria Thomas Orphanage in Matadi they have had a serious flooding problem in the courtyard and into the residence almost continuously this season. Funds are needed to bring in a truckload of dirt to raise the ground level and lay a concrete cover that will improve their health. Health issues in the three homes have come up with more frequency in the past few months, requiring both money and prayer. Examples are whooping cough, ear and feet infection, abscessed teeth, & malaria.

"Another school year is under way and the NHL committee has decided to launch a scholarship program for our children who are going further in their educational pursuits beyond high school. This is a competitive scholarship, subject to an application process, with progress of grantees followed carefully. We are just starting and it would be helpful to hear from you who might be interested and would like further information. Anyone interested in giving toward this needed endeavor should send their gift to Tenth Presbyterian Church, 1701 Delancey Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103, with designation for 'NHL Scholarship Fund.' We currently are supporting seven students in vocational training and college. Victoria Marse (our faithful Liberian partner) has continued to watch over things for us there. Please pray for Victoria as she does this important work."
