S. Philly Church Planting

For those of you not able to attend worship the last two Sundays, it has been announced that Jonathan Olsen has been approved by Session to plant a daughter church in South Philadelphia, Lord willing. He will remain as Minister for City Outreach through next summer, with the hope that he will be released completely for the mission church. We trust that worship services will begin in the fall of 2010. Please be in prayer for this work.

Of course, Liberti already has a South Philly church plant so why is there need for duplication?

Good question. As those who live in S. Philly know, this large territory contains dozens of distinct communities. We pray there will be multiple Reformed churches in S Philly. The liberti church planter and pastors are supportive of our efforts, as we are with theirs. There is also a long established OPC Church (Emmanuel) with whom we are in communication.
