Bill Gage
Bill Gage, a Presbyterian minister, died June 10. His funeral service was held on the 18th. You can read his obituary here. Note that he grew up in Tenth Church, where he also met his wife. Erna Goulding tells me that they were the first couple to greet Dr. Koop when he first came to Tenth.

I am sorry for the passing of Rev. Bill Gage. I knew him since I was a teenager. He knew my family well. My father, also a pastor in Philadelphia, worked closely with Rev. Gage. As a teenager, he preached at my church at 1520 Green St., an Hispanic UCC church. Later, while in seminary, from 1981-1983 I completed field work with the Hispanic congregation at Norris Square Presbyterian Church. I enjoyed these two years of field work. The experience at the church and the guidance of Rev. Gage has helped me throughout my own ministry. I greatly appreciated Rev. Gage's mentoring of me as I prepared for the ministry. I am presently a pastor of the Hispanic Evangelical UCC church in Rhode Island and have served this congregation for the last 26 years and also work as a licensed mental health counselor. People always said Rev. Gage was a pillar of the Norris Square community. Hopefully many leaders with his passion and skill will rise up in this community. I send my condolences to his family and friends.
