UrbanPromise, founded in 1987 and located in Camden, New Jersey, is a Christian faith-based, 40+ employee non-profit organization that seeks to equip inner city children, adolescents and teens with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth and leadership. This mission is fulfilled through a caring community of staff and volunteers who embrace the teachings of Jesus and seek to give witness to God’s love in the world.

UrbanPromise has a solid reputation of success in the Camden community. They are currently seeking candidates for Executive Director. This is an outstanding opportunity to be a “difference maker” and to help grow and expand the services provided to the children of Camden and their families!

In cooperation with the President/Founder and in collaboration with the senior leadership team and Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for all business operations including corporate planning and budgeting, delivery of high-quality programs, revenue generation, personnel policies and procedures, facilities, information technology and communications systems, management and nurture of the staff, and, protection of the vision and mission of the organization.

Candidates for the position must have a bachelor’s and advanced degree with at least 5+ years of experience in executive management preferably in a comparably sized agency, educational institution or non-profit organization that has a focus on education and social services. Candidates will be comfortable working in an urban setting and have a passion and preferably some history of working with the poor and needy living in the inner city. Candidates must have good relational, administrative, fiscal management and planning skills and experience working with a Board of Directors, community leaders, churches, educators and preferably local, state and federal officials. Personality traits and skills include leadership, goal and results oriented, collaborative, analytical team player and team builder, decision maker, persuasive, credibility, an executive presence and professional demeanor.

Candidates are preferred who live within driving distance of Camden but others who live in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast states will be given consideration.
