Party Animals

The church staff is partying today. I know, I know: we party everyday, but this is an official party. Cora with some outside helpers is preparing the food. We all bring gifts to exchange and usually make Paul lead us in song. Sometimes he will pull out a new song or poem. I'll let you know what happens.

Eat, drink and be merry, you all work so hard for us I pray this is a good time of celebration and fellowship as you prepare for the rigors of minstry during the Christmas season!!!!!

Looking forward with bated breath to the new poetry or song from Dr. Jones...
I am enjoying just thinking about this party happening today. I know it is one that is great fun for you all. WHat a lovely tradition!

Paul is not the only one who can write. Here are a couple of my entries:

(tune of Blue Christmas)
I have the flu Christmas without you;
I have the flu thinking about you.
Medicines brown and red
Taken with a cup of tea
Won't do a thing if
you're not here with me

I have the flu Christmas, that's certain;
And when that flu headache starts hurtin,
You'll be doing all right
There’ll be no chills at night,
But I have the flu this Christmas.

(tune of Chestnuts Roasting)
Fourth floor roasting like an open fire
Jack Frost nipping on Nancy's nose
On third-floor Carroll singing all inspired
While Christy's dressed up like Eskimos.

Everybody knows a tin filled with Quill cookies
Helps to make signing cards all right
Tiny Olsen tots making noise with Messner kids
Will keep the rest of staff out of sight.

They know that Aaron's on his way
He's clambering down the stairs so nobody better stay
On the stairs if they really care
For their safety
Don't even dare.

And so I'm offering this simple phrase
If you want to live to ninety-two
Although it's been said
many times, many ways
Get out of the way, yes you!
