Easter Reflections

What a glorious day yesterday! Beginning with the "sunrise" service in Rittenhouse Square singing "Christ the Lord is Risen Today," through the morning services, and concluding in the evening singing the "Hallelujah Chorus." Good preaching, warm fellowship, beautiful weather - God certainly was gracious to us.

I am interested in hearing how the day was for you. Send me some comments.

The day was very beautiful, all around.

A highlight for me was the pancake breakfast! This was the first year that I was not in choir and therefor able to attend. I was impressed. It was so well run--friendly service and good food! Great job Maranatha!

I used to be a junkie and sleep in Rittenhouse Square from time to time- when I couldn't hustle for a place to sleep for the night. Beneath the blooming trees and early morning sounds of blue-haired old women walking their dogs, the joyous voices came to me. People gathered in the park to celebrate the resurrection of the dead. It moved me and caused me to break down in tears. How joyous- how marvelous! The sounds of hope reverberated through the park, sheding light in what, to me, just short hours ago was a place of despair and abyssmal darkness.
It would only be a few short months later that I truly understood the gospel and was saved in Jesus Christ. I attended Tenth- the very church building I used to hustle for money in front of. I became a member and met a wonderful woman: we now have some children in the Lord.
Jesus Christ, the Resurrection, has saved me from judgement and death. He has also given me a present hope. When life becomes somewhat dank and dreary because of sin, the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ is there to remind me of His love for me in Christ. I remember coming down from a night of heroin abuse, startling awake on one of the park benches, only to hear "Christ the Lord is risen today! Hallelujah!" What a wonderful grace. Let us praise God for his love- how He saves even those who strongly believe they will perish forever- or who may even not beleive at all.
He is risen! Praise the Lord! And may God continue to enrich the ministry of Tenth throughout His world.
